Common wild orchids of Sikkim

SIKKIM is home of many wild orchid varieties. Sikkim's state flower is Nobel orchid (Dendobrium nobile Lindl.). Many beautiful variety of wild orchid blooms beside road of Sikkim specifically from month of February to July. Locally people name all variety of wild orchid just as Sunakhari.

Bauhinia accuminata (varla)

Bauhinia accuminata commonly called varla in nepali and dwarf white orchid tree in english is a species of family fabaceae(Leguminosae). More then seven species of Bauhinia is found all over India. Bauhinia accuminata is typically distinguish by their white petals. They are not tall then 3-4 meters. One of the special characteristic of Bauhinia members is emarginate leaves.
